Jordan Elected Mystery Writers of America's Louisiana's At-Large Board Member
Marson Randell Jordan of Winn Parish has been elected Louisiana’s At-Large Board Member by published authors of Mystery Writers of America. Jordan said he was pleasantly surprised when President Cindy Daniel of Dallas, Texas, called him and asked him if he would be interested in running for the job. The Houston, Texas group represents the southwestern branch of Mystery Writers of America. Jordan said one thing he pledges to the people of Louisiana is he will represent them with dignity. He also stated, "I wish to thank the men and women in Louisiana, Arkansas, Oklahoma and Texas that voted and supported me. Jordan represents every person in Louisiana that is a member of Mystery Writers of America. The last person that held this position is a friend of Jordan named Jim Cunningham, formally of New Orleans. Cunningham has now moved to Chicago, Illinois, leaving the position open for the person who ran for the job and got the most votes.
Jordan said that people out of state that voted for him had accepted him well after seeing his writing ability. He noted, "Cindy Daniel is a fine writer, and a kind person for extending a helping hand to me when this opening came along. Not all writers get the breaks that I have gotten, but I wish to thank everyone for being kind to me over the years for they have been the backing to my success. One of my dearest friends is Ann Carol Crispin who wrote Star Wars, plus about seventeen parts and some complete books, has already emailed and congratulated me. It is so much fun to have reputable people's home phone number, and am welcomed when I call them. Most of my stories have the setting in Winn Parish; and one writer from Las Vegas read one of my books and emailed me sending the information put on the Internet about Dugdemona Swamp by Winn Parish people. The lady became curious about Winn Parish and Dugdemona Swamp since one of my stories has its setting there. I have had people from Louisiana, Nevada, Utah, Florida, Washington, Texas, Arkansas, and other states, contact me and tell me how much they enjoyed my book entitled. The Chills of Horror - " Other books and stories written by Jordan are, A Walk Through The Swamp. Dark Whispers of Ghosts. The Varanda House. The Sounds of Evil. The Ice Man. The Changing of Oliver Twip. The Last Crop. Doctor Lioner's Experiments. The Watchmaker, and presently he is typing a novel entitled. Roses For The Mafia: New Orleans.
Mystery Writers of America s/w have four At-Large Board members and they are elected by published authors. The members elected were, (1) For Arkansas, Radine Trees Nehring, (2) Louisiana, Marson Randell Jordan, (3) Oklahoma, Dale Whisman, and (4), Texas, Deborah Elliot-Upton.
Jordan -will have to attend various literary meetings and frequent book sign trigs to do a good job. The position is for one year, and he hasn't had time to ask the president if he can run for the office more than one term. This post is like any other political job, do a good job and one may get re-elected, do a bad job and the individual may get the ax.
